Cameroon Settles CFA 712.2 Billion in BEAC Public Securities

Cameroon has repaid CFA 712.2 billion on the BEAC public securities market in 2023, according to the BEAC report. This includes CFA 553.7 billion in short-term Treasury bills (BTA) and CFA 158.4 billion in long-term Treasury bonds (OTA).

Cameroon’s BTA repayments were the highest in the CEMAC region, exceeding those of Congo and Gabon. For OTAs, Cameroon’s repayment accounted for 17.7% of the regional total.

The country’s strong repayment record continues to secure its position as one of the lowest-cost borrowers in Sub-Saharan Africa, despite rising interest rates.
