Paul Biya Hikes Official Document Fees
Following a presidential decree issued on June 20, 2024, the cost for Cameroonians to obtain or authenticate official documents will increase. President Paul Biya has amended the December 2023 finance law, significantly raising various stamp duties. For example, the fee for issuing or renewing a passport is now 110,000 CFA francs.
Visa fees have also risen, with a standard six-month visa priced at 100,000 CFA francs and an express visa at 150,000 CFA francs. Additionally, the stamp duty for a National Identity Card has jumped from 2,800 CFA francs to 10,000 CFA francs.
Consular cards have seen increases too, varying based on the continent of residence.Seventeen articles have been revised, resulting in higher costs for these frequently used services. Consequently, the state budget has grown to 7,278.1 billion CFA francs, comprising a general budget of 7,212.5 billion CFA francs and special allocations of 65.6 billion CFA francs.
