The three Northern Regions Redeemed From Darkness

By Valincia LEKOU

Eneo, Cameroon’s primary electricity provider, has successfully maintained power stability in the three northern Regions during the first half of 2024. This comes despite a 10% increase in demand driven by new industrial projects, including Cimencam’s cement production line in Figuil.

Key factors contributing to this stability include favorable conditions at the Lagdo Dam and the addition of 30 MW from new solar power plants in Maroua and Guider.

Eneo has also signed an agreement with Scatec’s subsidiary Release, to nearly double solar capacity to 60 MW by mid-2025. The northern regions now represent 11% of Eneo’s 2 million customers.
