BRICS+ Expansion Reshapes Cameroon’s Trade
The expansion of BRICS to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE has increased the bloc’s influence on Cameroon’s trade. According to a report from the Cameroonian Institute of Statistics (INS), BRICS+ now accounts for 29% of Cameroon’s trade, surpassing the G7’s 21%. Despite a trade deficit with both groups, BRICS+ is Cameroon’s leading partner, handling 26% of exports and 30% of imports. The INS recommends strengthening ties with both BRICS+ and the G7 due to their strategic importance.
