USAID Boosts Support for Female and Youth Entrepreneurs in Cameroon

Expanding Economic Opportunities for Women and Youth

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) recently renewed its commitment to supporting young and female entrepreneurs in Cameroon. Starting with a series of summits on October 15, 2024, the initiative has traveled from Yaoundé to Douala, where young investors and entrepreneurs were given an inside look at the economic opportunities available through partnerships between the U.S. and Cameroon’s private sectors.

Bringing Opportunities to Light

The two-day summit in Douala, held from October 16-17, offered participants the chance to engage directly with U.S. and Cameroonian representatives. USAID Country Representative, Philippe Accilien, emphasized USAID’s goal to foster economic partnerships and provide young entrepreneurs with the resources needed for sustainable growth.

USAID works with the American Chamber of Commerce in Cameroon to mobilize private capital, offering assistance that connects investors with market opportunities. As a longstanding partner since 1961, USAID has played a vital role in supporting economic development across Cameroon.

Building a Sustainable Future

USAID’s focus on empowering female entrepreneurs and youth aligns with the agency’s vision of creating a more sustainable and resilient economy. By addressing gaps in capital and business resources, USAID hopes to unlock Cameroon’s full entrepreneurial potential and contribute to long-term growth.
