The Chinese Navy Hospital Ship, known as Peace Ark, has completed its one-week mission in Douala, Cameroon, where thousands of patients received vital medical care. The ship’s stay in the country is part of China’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its diplomatic ties with Cameroon while offering much-needed health services to communities across the nation.
A successful mission for health and diplomacy 🚢
The closing ceremony for the mission took place on October 14th, 2024, and was presided over by Littoral Governor Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, representing Joseph Beti Assomo, the Minister Delegate of the Presidency in charge of Defense. Over the course of the week, the Peace Ark treated thousands of patients, addressing critical health needs and providing various medical services, ranging from basic healthcare to more complex procedures.
Strengthening Cameroon-China relations 🤝
The presence of the Peace Ark in Douala is yet another example of the strong and growing relationship between China and Cameroon. This mission has not only addressed health deficits in the region but also strengthened the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
